We're expanding and need your help to bring more classes, courses and workshops to people all over the UK.

Our quest.

We are looking for venues, tutors and caretakers to help deliver bookaclass.org workshops, classes and courses to people all over the UK.

What is bookaclass.org?

bookaclass.org grew out of North Yorks Art School -  a small, unfunded, bottom-up, street corner arts initiative which itself grew out of Three Works: an exhibition space created by Christopher Stephen Shaw in Weymouth in 2015.

As North Yorks Art School we have been delivering classes, courses and workshops in a large number of disciplines since January 2020.

At first, only a few people came - and then Covid hit, but we survived and with the arrival of Andrew Perkins as Head of Operations, we began to thrive. Today we welcome over 100 people through our doors weekly.

Venues

The venues we want to hear from should be safe, clean and warm.

Some will be spacious. Others will be more intimate.

Ideally, they should be located at street level.

There should be access for disabled people at all times, and where there are stairs, then lifts should be available.

Good nearby parking facilities are essential.

It doesn't matter where you are in the UK, simply fill in the form and we will be in contact about possible partnership opportunities.

Tutors

We actively look for tutors, leaders, coaches in all sorts of disciplines. We have a goal to expand into areas such as IT and languages but for now we view ourselves as an arts and crafts organisation with an aim of finding creative types in all fields.

We want to hear from you if you have a special knowledge in subjects as varied as glass fusion, ceramics, weaving, mosaics, painting, computer aided design, illustration, fashion, printmaking etc.

Qualifications are good but not entirely necessary. It will come down to experience and the quality of your knowledge. A link to a good and clear website is beneficial to this process or else you can attach good and clear images to this form. If you have difficulties with the tech side of things then let us know.

The qualities we look for in a tutor are the ones you'd expect, but being good with people is high on the list. Tutors should communicate well. They should be patient. They should be well organised and punctual - prepared to the max before the first students start arriving.

It doesn't matter where you are in the UK, simply fill in the form and we will be in contact about possible partnership opportunities.

Caretakers

An important role at all of our bookaclass.org locations is the bookaclass Caretaker.

As Caretaker you will be responsible for hosting classes, courses and workshops. You will arrive before the tutor and participants and ensure the room(s) are set up ready for the event.

You will support the tutor in setting up the venue then greet participants and ensure they find their way to the appropriate classroom.

You will be responsible for ensuring everyone is safe, understanding your venue's site specific Health & Safety requirements and passing this information onto tutors and participants.

You will work with caterers to accept delivery of lunches and ensure this is set up for everyone attending the event and ensure refreshments are available throughout the day.

The most important part of the role is that you will be the local face of bookaclass.org and act as an ambassador for the bookaclass.org brand ensuring everyone from tutor to participants is supported throughout the day.

This is a part time, self-employed role; however we will be looking to make this a more permanent position in venues we are able to grow.
