Join Helen to create a piece of textured glass art using your own design (or copy one of the examples provided), 20 x 15 cm. You do not need to have any artistic experience; the course is very accessible, and Helen will support you in using a variety of types of glass to achieve your desired effects. Most designs can be adapted for glass and examples of how you can display your piece, once finished, will be given. You will be provided with a clear glass base, cut to size, to which you will cut and add a variety of glass elements to build up your image. You will learn to cut glass to shape if you feel happy with this, but if you'd prefer not to there are still many ways to produce your design without the need to cut anything. You will learn about the art of fusing as you make your piece and will benefit from the technical expertise of Helen who has worked with glass for 11 years and is nearing the end of her BA Hons. degree in glass at the University of Sunderland. Due to the firing and cooling down processes involved with all glassmaking it is not possible for participants to take work home on the day it is made. Work needs to be fired and allowed to cool slowly in a kiln. Your pieces will be taken away, kiln fired, and returned to the studio for you to collect. What do you need to bring? Just bring your enthusiasm and any designs or images you want to work towards (if you have them) as well as a pair of closed-toed shoes (no open-toed footwear). All of your materials, tools and protective eyewear will be provided. An apron, overall, or an old shirt is recommended to protect your clothing from potential glass shards. This workshop is suitable for those exploring glass for the first time as well as those with some glass fusing experience. Cancelations within 2 weeks of the event will not be refunded, however bookaclass.org will look to reschedule you onto a future bookaclass.org event. This option is at the discretion of bookaclass.org. Your Right to Cancel If you are a customer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union you have the right to cancel your contract to purchase services from us within 14 days of purchase without giving notice. The cancellation period will end 14 days from the date of purchase when you purchased a service.
