We abandoned something special when the old film photography gave way to digital. What we gained in immediacy we lost in feeling; the sort of feeling that came by way of slowing down how we frame and process the world around us. Transporting ourselves back to a time of analogue chic and kitchen sink realism via film photography might appeal to some - and a good way to start is here. Bob Smith will help you discover film and how it reacts to light. You will find out about cameras and lenses; how to load film and take light readings the right way. You will learn how to use the camera in different ways - for instance, fast shutter or slow shutter? Shallow depth of field or large depth of field? How to consider shape, form and line when taking photographs. You will prepare the chemicals and develop your film after lunch. If you want to capture the romance of black and white film and be part of the film photography revival then this workshop is for you. The workshop will be taught by Bob Smith who has a BA in Fine Art & an MA in Archaeology. Bob has worked as a professional photographer for 25+ years. He was also a curator of collections at English Heritage until 2019. Please note this workshop will involve indoor and outdoor activities. Saturday 25 May 2024 10am - 4pm with Bob Smith This workshop takes place at: Hummersknott Academy Edinburgh Drive Darlington DL3 8AR All materials and refreshments included. Lunch isn't provided for this workshop. Please bring your own lunch.

The cancellation period will end 14 days from the date of purchase when you purchased a service.
